The romanticism landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774- 1840) is certainly one of the best-known German artists. His paintings like “Wanderer above a Sea of Fog”, his works from the island Rügen or from Saxon Switzerland are fascinating people up till now. In 2024 is the 250st birthday of this exceptional artist. Caspar David Friedrich was also a big source of inspiration for my photography. The atmosphere in his paintings is truly magical. For this book I tried to find places throughout Germany where it’s possible to experience similar moods still in the 21st century.
